George Nakashima tribute table

Here is a George Nakashima tribute dining table made by Satoshi Yamauchi. It is made entirely out of walnut wood. Its size is W 36″ x L 90″ x H 30″ and it was carefully designed as a table that can seat up to 8 people comfortably. The walnut wood was stained to a darker finish, giving it a charcoal color. This table combines both shaker style and Japanese aesthetics in one design.

George Nakashima was was one of the leading furniture makers of the 20th century, influencing the American craft movement greatly. Perhaps, Satoshi Yamauchi share a common belief with George Nakashima, in that they both believe discipline and patience are two important premises of furniture building. Satoshi strives for perfection in every stage of furniture construction. We think you will find the kokoro (a Japanese word connecting mind, body, and spirit) of George Nakashima’s furniture building in this dining table.
